In 2008, the RTA, in partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP), the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Metra, Pace, and the Illinois Tollway, re-launched the drive less. live more. campaign. The purpose of this campaign is to promote the environmental and personal benefits of alternative transportation in northeastern Illinois while:

- Easing traffic congestion in northeastern Illinois by encouraging the use of public transportation and alternative modes of travel as a means to improve air quality.
